Bahamas- Day 5
This morning, we had an opportunity to attend a briefing of all the relief and support teams working in Abaco. It was great to see so many people from all over the world coming together to help support and rebuild this devastated island. There is even a team dedicated to finding and reuniting pets with their owners!
However, the reality of the situation really hit home when we saw the posters of missing people. So many lost their homes or businesses and all their possessions, and while those things are held dearly, they can and will be replaced eventually. The people lost in this disaster cannot be replaced. Please pray for peace and comfort for all those who lost friends or family.
Shortly after returning to camp, we had a visit from John Lyon, the CEO of World Hope International. He had come down to deliver much-needed supplies, as well as to check in on the operations down here.
We do continue to see God provide in this time of need. Today, a road worker came to us asking if we had any use for the water he had in his pump truck. The water was pulled from a pond in Nassau and transported to Abaco. Unfortunately, the water was not good for drinking or even cleaning and bathing. This man was going to dump the water in the sea if he couldn’t find anyone to use it. Well, it just so happens that cleaning dirty water is our specialty here! He was even kind enough to leave his pump truck with us overnight to allow us to transfer the water into our holding tank! Praise God that when our water supply was getting low, He provided the right person at the right time to allow us to continue our mission!
As always, thank you for your continued prayers and support. Your words of encouragement are so wonderful to hear! Please pray for open hearts as we continue to serve the physical needs of these people. Pray for opportunities to help fill the spiritual needs of these people as well.
“Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning.”
