How I came to know Christ: On Friday, September 26th, 2014, my life seemed to be overwhelming, stressful and impossible. I was surviving on little sleep while working full time and attempting to raise a 3, 5 & 6 year old. No matter, how hard I tried, I had an overwhelming feeling that I would never be enough. All of my life I strived and strived to prove myself and be the best, while always feeling like I was not enough and had fallen short. My husband, Mike, and I had been attending daybreak for almost 10 months when I was feeling so overwhelmed that I lost my patience with our oldest son after a disagreement with my husband. In that moment I ran to the car and tears were endlessly streaming down my face. I was lost as to where to go and ended up parked in Daybreak parking lot where I screamed out to God to help me. I wept and cried out to God, this is not who I want to be; then, I began to tell God who I wanted to be and how I envisioned my life – kind, encouraging, loving – and I told god that I could not do it alone that I needed him. I was still filled with fear, worry and disappointment so I called Daybreak’s number. A gentleman prayed with me and reassured me that God loves me, created me and is pleased with me and that I do not have to do anything to earn his love. He told me that God simply wants me to have a relationship with him. After we hung up, tears continued to stream down my face and I asked Jesus to come into my heart and to guide my life to live it the way he intended me to live. Immediately, I felt tremendous peace and calmness come over me. I drove back home, hugged my husband and told him that I don’t want to live like this anymore. That following week an elder met with me an encourage me to read my bible everyday so that God’s words would speak to me. I did and it has transformed my life. I was baptized on Feb. 15th, 2015.

Brief testimony of how you came to know Christ: I grew up in the Christian Reformed Church. Once I went to college, I thought I didn't need the church and that I could worship God on my own time. I was wrong. I met all my goals during that phase of my life, but was not happy. Once Kevin and I were married and Kyle was born, we decided we needed to attend church for Kyle, so we began attending Daybreak. Shortly after I started serving and eventually became a member and was baptized. Life got worse and we went through some really tough times. The devil was really attacking us. We lost our house, had absolutely no money, and I almost gave up on our marriage. It was during those tough times that I truly realized how much I needed Christ and how vital He was for me and my family. I gave everything to Christ (including my marriage and my kids). So much good has come out of that tough time and I have not gone a day without thanking God for what he has blessed me with.
